Avatar Scorpion Gunship

The Scorpion Gunship features dual co-axial ducted-fan rotor systems with a total of four 3-bladed prop-rotors as well as Twin Magnussen KE-76 turbine generators driving counter-rotating annular ceramic motors. This gives the Scorpion an effective combat range of 800 kilometers at 100 mp/h cruise or 140 VNE (Velocity Not-to Exceed) in Pandoran atmosphere. The Scorpion was designed to fly in Earth atmosphere, but is easily adapted to operate in Pandoran air, due to its high oxygen content. Garrow Verticopter

The Verticopter may be described as a hybrid between modern planes and helicopters. While the aircraft can take off and land vertically, it still retains high performance horizontal flight. Using a computer program called Blender, Daniel Klaue invented prototypes including remote controlled, UAV (unmanned air vehicle), and 2 seater and 7 seater full-scale models.  Klaue currently pursues development of his design with a start-up company from Mountain View, California, named Garrow Aircraft. Hypersonic Speeds in Aerodynamics

In aerodynamics, hypersonic speeds are those that are highly supersonic. Since the 1970s, the term has generally been assumed to refer to speeds of Mach 5 (5 times the speed of sound) and above. The hypersonic regime is a subset of the supersonic regime. (more…)
